"Ka Hale Ulu Le'a" means "House of Happiness" in Hawaiian and this is the feeling you experience when entering this Hualalai property. This 550 square foot guest house is a private place where couples can experience that "one of a kind" vacation. The guest house is on a property occupied by the owners that have been residents of Hualalai for 21 years. It is only a three-minute cart ride to the Four Seasons Hotel, pools and spa. The guest house is located on Pakui Street. It is a private free-standing structure with its own entrance. The sitting room houses a wet bar with a refrigerator, coffee maker toaster, and a microwave oven. The private lanai has a table and chairs where morning coffee, breakfast or lunch can be served. An etched glass front door, travertine and granite throughout, give the guest house a feeling of casual elegance. The guest house was added to the property in 2012.

This in alternative to staying in the hotel where all the meals have to be eaten out, especially if you may have a baby to care for. You will have all the comforts of staying in the hotel including upscale amenities, pressed sheets and luxurious towels. Boogie boards, ice chests, and beach chairs are just a few of the amenities that are available for your stay so that you can head to one of the island's many spectacular beaches near the resort.

Fantastic home!
What a fantastic house! We had the pleasure of staying at this home for a family vacation that included my toddler son (the owners had a fence put up around the entire pool ). The home was perfect for the amount of space that we needed. It was immaculate and well laid out. We found ourselves in and around the pool area for hours on end. The owners could not have been nicer and were spot on with suggestions for things to do, see, eat, shop, etc. The Four Seasons was just a short golf cart ride away with some fantastic restaurants. I would not hesitate to recommend this home and we have already considered staying there again.

The perfect large getaway luxury vacation home near Kona: private, but limitless pleasures!
My wife and I had the great pleasure of staying in this rental this May a few weeks back. The weather was perfect, the island beautiful, but just as wonderful and special was this large custom luxury home “fit for a king and queen.” It was quiet, yet spacious, and opened up onto the golf course which was seldom busy (early May). We used the private pool and hot tub all the time, and it became our perfect getaway away from home in the PNW (Washington). We looked at the VRBO picts of this before we got here, but they barely tell the story of what is in store for a visitor. Everything was first class and high-end. All new, perfect, and clean, with everything included to cook, live, rest, kick back, and just enjoy. There was internet throughout the house and outside areas (and at the resort) in case I needed to “check in with the real world” (though, I tried not to!). Staying barely a quarter mile walk from the Four Seasons, we enjoyed the multitude of amenities and services the resort has to offer: lap pool (25 yards or meters, perfect for the triathlete in me), an amazing health club with limitless possibilities for exercise and classes, about a mile of beach front, great walking/running trails, several great restaurants, and too much to list. There is also the Kings Pond, a safe place for great snorkel exploration of Hawaiian fish, right on the property. When we come back again we could bring our large family and there would be plenty of room in this 4000 foot home. Do stay and enjoy this unique luxury. It made our 30th anniversary perfect. Plus, though secluded, private, and “off the beaten path,” I don’t think it is more than 15-20 minutes from the KOA airport.

Year guest house constructed - 2012

About the owner: We built the main home in 1999. We have used the home for a vacation rental for the majority of the time that we have had the home. We have been coming to the Hawaiian Islands for over 28 years. The Hawaiian Islands were a special place for us and our children to visit and we have many fond memories of the kids growing up knowing that we would spend 8 weeks per year in the home vacationing. We love the Kohala Coast because it offers beautiful weather, complex views of black lava, striking green landscaping and endless views of blue water and beaches. The combination is so unique that we chose to move to the island permanently in 2011 and left the large home as a vacation rental. Now with the children off to college, we have decided to move back into the main home but the Guest House is available for rent.
We chose this location on Pakui to build our home because we like to be close enough to the water to hear the surf and see the water but not so close that there are problems with the salt and wind. With the children, it was very important to be close to the hotel, spa and tennis courts. Pakui street is always full of children, and our children have made life-long friends at the resort that they would connect with every year.
I have recently retired from my professional career, and to fulfill a life-long interest I have become a licensed real estate agent in Hawaii (License RB-24065).

What makes this property unique

One of the unique benefits of this guest house over a hotel room is that breakfast and lunch can be prepared at the guest house minimizing the expensive food at the resort restaurants for these meals. Also as a hotel guest you do not have access to coolers, boogie boards and beach toys so it becomes very hard to enjoy all the beaches that Hawaii has to offer.
Also the guest house comes with its own golf cart so it is easy to get around the whole resort.
This set up provides the ideal vacation where the guests can use the Four Seasons facilities but also have all the equipment necessary to tour the island beaches and sight see.
